Nike Zoom KD II Scoring Title Edition

To commemorate Kevin Durant’s historic accomplishment as the youngest scoring champion in the history of the NBA, Nike is releasing the Nike Zoom KD Scoring Title Edition.

On Monday, June 28, a very limited number of pairs of the Zoom KD II Scoring Title Edition will be released at Niketown Chicago, as well as House of Hoops locations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas. On the 28th KD will also be making an appearance in-store at the Chicago Niketown at 2:30 PM.

This shoe features Kevin’s point totals from the season on the collar lining, as well as a badge on the tongue that references his friends and teammates, The Broingtons, as well as Kevin’s “Pure Committment.” The sockliner includes another call-out to The Broingtons, a pennant that alludes to Kevin’s appearance in the NBA All-Star Game in February 2010, and two horses that represent his two H.O.R.S.E competition wins.

Nike Zoom KD II China Edition

KD is currently touring China with Nike Basketball. As part of the tour, Nike has released a special colorway of KD’s immensely popular Zoom KD II sneaker in China. The shoe honors Tsinghua High School for winning its third consecutive Chinese National Championship in basketball. Only 100 pairs were released in China, so this is truly a special edition and a fitting tribute to the Tsinghua High School squad.

Snoop Dogg Represents with His Kevin Durant Jersey

As part of KD’s quest to make KevinDurant35.com a true home for his fans, we have been requesting fans send in photos of themselves with Kevin’s Jersey and with his Zoom KD II sneakers. The photos are featured on the site’s “sightings” gallery found on the side of this blog (you can also visit them here and here). One photo sent in to us features rapper Snoop Dogg wearing Kevin’s #35 Thunder jersey. The fact that Snoop was wearing a KD Jersey is pretty big deal because Snoop is a big time Lakers fan.

Another cool sightings photo was sent in by fan named David Patton. In the photo, David is kneeling in front of his 1962 Mini Cooper S vintage race car wearing his Nike Zoom KD II sneakers.

If you want to submit a KD Jersey sighting or a Zoom KD II sighting, you can send it to KD35sightings [at] gmail.com.

Fan Continues Quest to Own Every Kevin Durant Shoe

We all know that Kevin Durant is gaining tons of fans by the day with the spectacular breakout season he just completed. However, some fans were already diehards. Take Ben Brown, a big longhorn fan, that has watched every college and NBA game that KD has ever played in. He also is trying to pull off something spectacular by owning a pair of every single colorway of KD signature shoes and PE’s that has been released by Nike. Here’s his story:

When I was young I always wanted Air Jordans or any Nike shoes, but wasn’t able to afford them. I always admired the guys with huge collections of Jordans mainly the guys that had every pair released. Being a diehard Longhorn fan and living in Austin I’ve watched every college game and NBA game KD has played in. When KD came to Texas I was pretty sure when this guy got into the NBA he was getting a signature shoe. At that point to told myself that my goal was to get every shoe and colorway he released mainly because he is and always will be a Texas Longhorn. I don’t have them all but I will continue to look everywhere I can to add the missing ones to my collection. It does help that KD and Nike made these affordable for the regular guy to collect. Good luck to Ben on collecting every single KD shoe and colorway. From the looks of his photo, it seems he’s already well on his way there. And remember, you can pick up a pair of the current Kevin Durant signature shoe, the Zoom KD II by clicking HERE.

Collecting Shoes from the Greats Around the League

kdlabel

What’s good everyone? Just checking in from the road. We’re in the middle of a four-game road trip right now. We’re 2-0 so far on the trip with wins in Atlanta and Minnesota. We play at Memphis on Friday and head to Cleveland to face LeBron and the Cavs on Saturday. This should be a great test for us.

Anyway, I know the last time I blogged about my new KD II sneakers that are on sale right now, and that had me thinking about all the sneakers I’ve collected over the years from a ton of great player in this league.

I’m not sure what got me started on that. To be honest with you, I’m such a fan of different players that I’d rather ask for shoes or game-worn stuff than autographs. Some players have done their best to give them to me and they’re always happy to do so. I’m just a big fan of shoes and seeing guys wear different shoes.

So far I’ve collected Kobe’s, Joe Johnson’s, Andrei Kirilenko, O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace. I’ve also got LeBron’s shoes. He autographed them for my little brother. So I’ve got a lot of guys. I’ve got some autographed, too. I’ve got Kobe’s autographed shoes — something a lot of people can’t say they have. I’ve also got Joe Johnson’s autographed. Players are really cordial. If I ask a player for shoes, an autograph or a jersey they do it right away.

My first ones were Kobe’s. He wore Huaraches, old Huaraches. It was during one of my rookie games and I was at the free throw line and I was like, ‘man, I like those. Can you sign them for me?’ He’s like, ‘yeah, I got you.’ So he sent them over to me. I thought he would have forgotten but he sent them right over to me after the game. I was kind of excited.

I just keep them all in a box in my closet for right now. But once I settle on a house situation and buy a house out here I’m going to have a room just for them.

I collected sneakers up until last season. Really, I just forgot about it, so that’s the only reason why I stopped collecting them. But I think I’m about to start again because there’s so many new shoes coming out this year.

Oh yeah, and for all the sneakers I’ve collected from different players, I’ve actually had a few players ask me for mine. Ron Artest asked me for mine in my first rookie preseason game. A couple of other guys have asked me for them. That’s an honor, too, when people want your sneakers.

If you could get game-worn sneakers from any player in the league, who would it be, retired players or current ones? Let me know in my comments section. Talk to you guys soon.
