Talking College Hoops
What’s going on everyone? It’s been a crazy week for me after All-Star Weekend, the All-Star Game and getting right back in the grind of the NBA season. We had a good win against the Clippers on Tuesday, but then came up a bit short in the final minutes against the Spurs last night. We had some good looks at the end of the game last night, but the ball just didn’t bounce our way.
Enough NBA talk for now. Let’s talk college hoops for a little bit.
Y’all know I’m a Texas Longhorn all the way! As usual, I’ve been keeping a close eye on my boys this season. I know they had a tough loss to Nebraska over the weekend but other than that they’re playing unbelievable. Their defense is Grade A. They’re doing everything they need to be doing right now. That’s what great teams do. Hopefully they’ll make it far. I’m really pulling for them and they’ve got to keep pushing.
As far as other teams go, I’m actually a really big Duke fan. Playing for Coach K this summer really put in perspective what type of coach he is, what type of team he has. I’m a big fan of Duke and I’ve been trying to watch every game.
One of my childhood friends is Duke Guard, Nolan Smith. I’ve known him since I was 9, 10 years old, when we first started playing against each other. He’s having a phenomenal type of year! A Player of the Year type of year, First Team All-American type of year…so he really deserves a lot of credit. I think a lot of people are forgetting about him with all these young freshmen coming in. But Nolan’s having a phenomenal year and hopefully he’s able to cap off a great season.
I know Jimmer Fredette of BYU is having a heck of a season, too, and I actually know him a bit as well. This past summer he was at my camp and also played with the Select squad against the U.S.A. team and he held his own, so hopefully he has a great season as well.
So who do you all like in college hoops right now? Who’s your early favorite heading into the Tournament? Let me know in the comments section.
