Strasburg and the Nationals

kdlabel

What’s going on everyone? If you’ve been following my blog lately then you know I’ve been all over the country this summer. Last week I was in New York for my NBA Elite Cover announcement and the NBA Draft. Earlier this week I was in Chicago for my Nike Skill Academy. Now I’m back in Thunder country hosting my second annual Kevin Durant Basketball camp.

Whenever I get back home to D.C. for a bit I really want to see Stephen Strasburg pitch for my hometown Nationals. I haven’t even had a chance to watch him on TV yet, but I’ve heard so many good things about him that I’ve got to check him out. I do know he’s been pitching as well as anybody and has been real sharp in his first couple of games. You know me, I’m all for anything or anyone that sheds a positive light on D.C.

I’ve been to a few Nationals games before but there weren’t many people in the stands, so I’m hoping to experience a good atmosphere whenever I do get out there this time. But I’m sure Strasburg helps fill the seats. And while I don’t know any Nationals players I’d definitely like to meet some guys and get their autographs. Hey, I’m still a big sports fan at heart. I never played baseball as a kid but I sure enjoyed watching it.

Anyone see Strasburg pitch in person? Do you think he’ll make the All-Star team? Let me know what’s up in the comments section.

He's definitely All-Star Material. He's tight, but his body of work may be too small (no homo) to make this year's all star team.

I heard you didn't sign anything in Niketown. smh.

Too few starts for the all stat team, but yes, hes phenomenol

Heck yea Kevin, Strasburg is the man! I'm a big D.C. sports fan, living in NC. I'm a NC State fan, but I definitely supported you and Rick Barnes at UT. That is really cool that you like the Nationals and the Skins. Kevin, I just saw that you are on a roster for the NC-ProAm Basketball league. Will you becoming down to NC this summer and playing?

@iAmVa –Have'nt seen him pitch in person but I have seen him play. Far as the All-Star Team, if he continues to pitch the way he's doing now, in about a year or two, he'll be All-Star material

Not in person KD but I've caught him 3 times on TV. Pretty Amazing stuff. His best outing was his debut against Pittsburgh. 14 k's! I want him to make the All Star Squad but from what I'm hearing he might not. Most analysts think he needs to win his next 2 or 3 starts. But as much tickets as he's selling and the tv ratings he's getting I think it would be a dishonor to baseball and the fans if he's not on the squad. You Gotta check this guy out!

I love the true sports addict comments. He is a mound-monster, but will not get enough starts for an all star team this season and has to hope that the media can somehow make that not matter. Next year is a different story

kd i saw strasburg LIVE when he was at san deigo st. he reallllly is NEXT. and if you look at his life story he use to have a bad attitude and was over weight before he realized his real ceiling. strasburg is the man…….RIGHT AFTER KD!!!!! miss ya in the 253!!!

  • Stephscott2002

Veer, this post is about Strasberg. Let it go, man.

He's fun to watch pitch. I think baseball needed something to lift it up, and he seems to be it. I hope he's given a fair shot–no one's perfect. I think he has a chance at the All-Star team even this year, based on the love he's getting now.

  • @sportsnay

Yes…I saw him Monday in Atlanta. He is CRAZY NICE!!! I think he will make the All-Star team based off of the hype around his name and not necessarily his stats. His “record” is not all that great….but he has a MEAN curve ball! Watching him on TV won't even give you a good perspective on how great he is. He will be a definite All-Star next year and every year after that! :)

  • DURANTinD.C.

Yeah i saw him in his debut, he was awesome. It would be nice to be able to go right down the road and see you play for the wizards in the verizon center with john wall!

  • Nameloc47

Yo Kevin, huge DC sports fan, Strasburg is absolutely filthy on the mound, if you havent checked him out yet then you have to, his movement on his pithes are insane. DC sports is looking up tho, we got McNabb and shanahan now, and john wall as well. What do you think of the young guy, you think he can turn the wizards around?
