Watching My Horns in Stillwater

kdlabel

What’s going on everybody? Just checking in to tell you about my trip to Stillwater on Monday night to see my Texas Longhorns take on – and beat – Oklahoma State. It ended up being a great game and ESPN was even there.

I went to the game with my friends from home plus Russell Westbrook, Kyle Weaver, Jeff Green, James Harden and D.J. White. I just wanted to support my guys. It was a good game, so I’m happy I went. It was cool just to see them. They’re people I really love and really care for, and it was especially good to see them do so well.

I’m glad I got to talk to them and see them in person, too. I got there right before tip-off so I saw them at halftime and after the game. I talked to Coach Barnes, asked him how he was doing and he said he was proud of me and just told me to continue to work. I really miss seeing those guys since I was there the whole summer and I’m looking forward to going back down there this summer.

As far as the atmosphere went, the fans were great and the student section was funny. I miss college a lot. I really, really miss it. Even though I was in OSU territory, no one really gave me a hard time. They really were just like, ‘hey how are you doing? Remember the game you played here a couple years back when it went to triple-overtime?’ It was just reminiscing. It was cool to have just friendly competition between myself and some Oklahoma State fans. Like I said, I was happy I went and hopefully I’ll go to more games in the future.

Texas was No. 1 but they lost three out of the last five I think. But they’ve been playing well. Every team goes through a spurt where they lose a couple of games here and there. That happens and they go through that every year. I think they’ll be alright. They’ve got a lot of talent on that team. They’re deep. I was hoping to see them this weekend at OU but we’ll be in San Francisco. So I’m happy I saw them. Seeing them once was better than not seeing them at all.

So what do you guys think of the college basketball season so far? Surprise teams or players, favorites to watch? Anyone a Longhorns fan? Let me know in the comments section.

We play the Hornets tonight in New Orleans. Make sure to send a prayer out for my bro Chris Paul. He injured his knee and I just want to see him healthy and back on the court as soon as possible.

Talk to you soon.

KD - Longhorn for life here. Thanks for reppin' UT well and upholding a humble, great attitude as an example to these guys and to fans everywhere. Love the way you play ball on and off the court.

    thanks

Kevin, I can't tell you how much every Texas alum and fan appreciates what you do for the program. It means a lot and further cements your place as one of the all-time great 'horns. Hook'em, buddy and good luck with your season.

Hey Kevin. I just started watching college basketball not to long ago, and so far UT is in my top 5. The first is the Wake Forest DEACS cause i have to support my college team and they're doing really good. The others are Villanova, Georgetown, and Syracuse. Im really glad to see that you guys are getting the recognition that u deserve. I saw that the Thunder is now officially in the conversation for the playoffs!! So proud of u guys! Ya'll have definitely earned it.

Your support is greatly appreciated. Particularly in Oklahoma. My son and I were lucky enough to meet some people with tickets 3 rows behind the UT bench the year you were with the team. They lived out of town and weren't going to be able to attend a lot of games. We paid face value for some awesome seats for about 8 games that year. It's something my speaks of in awe to this day. I remember one game when you had a problem with your shoes in pregame and they brought you out another pair. The old shoes were just there on a chair forever. I kept telling him to ask the staff for them, as it looked like they were torn. Being a shy 12 year old he never did. Some college kids finally saw them and asked the staff and they were handed right over. It's something he regrets to this day.

Nice post, KD. As a TX alum, it makes me happy to see you still working on your degree and supporting the team. Keep working hard and making your family and the longhorn nation proud.

Hey KD..Although I'm a huge OU fan, I respect you for supporting your Longhorn family. It shows the dedication and loyalty you have toward the team and university. I am also a huge Thunder fan and love watching you guys play the game. Now let's go beat those Hornets!

KD I am a huge horns fan and make most of the home games. We miss you out on the court in Austin but we are very proud of how well you have done in the NBA. Keep up the hard work and Hook em!!!!
  • Public Enemy
Hook 'Em Horns!!! We gotta beat OU and Kansas in these next two games. Tall order? Sure. Impossible? No. I'd like to see Dex, Clint and Wangmene be more aggressive to the hoop and open up the outside for the shooters. They have the talent...just need to execute. Velvet Hoop!!!
  • xulferdica
Great post KD! I hope CP3 makes a speedy recovery. Good luck tonight in New Orleans! Go Thunder!
  • kevin-chan
heey,u guy r so great..i follow u all the time

Kevin Durant, though only one year playing UT ball you are one of the most honored Longhorns...thank you from Austin for continuing to rock the Horns and show Texas Fight pride! This entire city is happy to see you succeeding in the NBA - best of luck to you!

Horns look sharp - younger guards need to slow it down and keep cool in tight, pressure situations. also, we hit the boards hard but on offensive rebounds need to capitalize on second chance opportunities. the passion, teamwork, love for the game is there - just can't get emotional in intense situations. either way, we look good for March...great for March. (NO missing free throws in march btw)

Hook Em Horns, and good luck All Star weekend...we will be watching.

    lots of love from Austin...
